Emails: Clinton Vp List Divided Into ‘Food Groups’ By Race, Gender


A list of possible running mates for Democratic governmental candidate Hillary Clinton to select from was divided into food groups by the prospects race, gender and other characteristics, inning accordance with an e-mail exposed Tuesday by WikiLeaks.

The list of 38 names, consisting of tech leaders like Apple CEO Tim Cook and Microsoft creator Bill Gates, was sent out to Clinton by Campaign Chairman John Podesta on March 17. The e-mail belonged to a chest of 50,000 supposed messages taken from Podestas Gmail account.

The e-mail was sent out on the heels of Clintons sweep of 5 primaries in Missouri, Ohio, Illinois, North Carolina and Florida on March 15. Clintons huge night followed an upset loss in Michigan to Sen. Bernie Sanders previously in the month.

Ok, I can breathe once again! Congrats on an amazing night, Podesta composed at the beginning of the e-mail. I am seeming like its possible to obtain back to the longer term once again.

The list of possible veeps was put together by Podesta and leading Clinton assistants Cheryl Mills, Robby Mook, Jake Sullivan, Huma Abedin and Jennifer Palmieri.

Podesta composed that he arranged the names in rough food groups. The names, however, seemed arranged by race, gender– as well as wealth.

The groups were:

Rep. Xavier Becerra, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Secretary of Labor Tom Perez and Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar– all Hispanic.

Sen. Tammy Baldwin, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Sen. Claire McKaskill, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, Sen. Debbie Stabenow and Sen. Elizabeth Warren– all females.

Sen. Michael Bennet, Sen. Sherrod Brown, Sen. Martin Heinrich, Sen. Tim Kaine, Gov. Terry McAuliffe, Sen. Chris Murphy and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack– all white guys.

Columbia, S.C., Mayor Stephen Benjamin, Sen. Cory Booker, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, previous Attorney General Eric Holder, previous Gov. Deval Patrick, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx– all black guys.

Gen. John Allen, Adm. William McCraven and Adm. Michael Mullen– all military leaders.

GM CEO Mary Barra, previous New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Xerox CEO Ursula Burns, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Microsoft creator Bill Gates, benefactor Melinda Gates, Coca-Cola CEO Muhtar Kent, Rockefeller Foundation President Judith Rodin and Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz– rich tech and magnate.

Sen. Bernie Sanders stood alone in his group.

In the end, Clinton selected Kaine as her choice.
