Yosemite celebrates 150th anniversary


(CNN) It was throughout the throes of the Civil War, with great deals of harsh and bloody combating still ahead, when President Abraham Lincoln turned his focus on the Mariposa Grove and the Yosemite Valley locations of California.

Lincoln’s trademark on the Yosemite Land Grant expense on June 30, 1864 , set a precedent for the conservation of the young nation’s wilderness. That act 150 years back was the very first circumstances of the United States federal government reserving beautiful wilderness for public usage and conservation.
