On the first weekend at Eddie Weather’s Ohana Festival, several artists descended on each other’s sets (not just years, but the history of the festival). The third day was no different.
Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready came off the set of Brandy Carlyle with a cover of Soundgarden’s “Searching with My Good Eye Closed”, a song he released with the band’s surviving members on Record Store Day in 2020. Later that night during the Pearl Jam set, Veder invited Carlyle to come out on their weekend set and sing with them.
Before playing “Better Man” with Carlyle, Veder joked with the crowd about a line that Carlyle had told him about Bill’s women before (including Yola and Sharon Van Atten) and that he was allowed to share it. He added that it was not a phrase he used himself, joking that he would be dismissed.
See performance below.
Carlyle was not the only guest to show up. Photographer / musician Danny Clinch, who performed the band in his sea. Listen. He played the harmonica at the fest “Red Mosquito” in New Jersey last week, and producer Andrew Watt played the guitar during the “Alive” set.
For the rest of the set, several songs were introduced from Pearl Jam GigatonSet openers with “retrograde” and “ok”.
