The roommate, unfortunately, has been shooting at another school, but fortunately so far, no deaths have been reported. According to CNN, the suspect responsible for the incident, Timothy Simpkins, who had previously fled after the shooting, has been arrested by police and is in custody.
Timothy, an 18-year-old student at Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas, has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to Assistant Police Chief Kevin Colby. The report said they believe the shooting happened at 5:15 a.m., injuring at least four people and that the incident happened when he was involved in a fight, where he pulled out his gun. Videos of the alleged fight spread on social media soon after the shooting.
Of the four injured, two were shot and three were hospitalized. Fortunately, all three of those hospitalized are expected to survive, said Assistant Superintendent of Police Kalbiye. A male student in the intensive care unit is out of surgery. When authorities traced Timothy, Arlington police used their Twitter account to share a photo of the suspect, his license plate and details of the Dodge charger he was operating.
Authorities also launched a systematic search with the local police department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to find him. A few miles from Timothy High School was the neighboring town of Grand Prairie. When he was arrested, police believe a .45 caliber handgun he used during the shooting was recovered. However, Chief Daniel Cisney said police have not yet confirmed this. After performing ballistic tests with the help of ATF, they have to wait for the results.
Our thoughts are with the victims in this incident.
