Insulted R&B singer R. Kelly was convicted Monday (Sept. 2) of nine counts of rape and sexual trafficking. His 13-year-old ex-wife Dria Kelly is now talking.

In an interview with ITV Good morning Britain, Dria said, “[It’s important] The women that are supported even feel that they have the power to come forward and tell their stories. If they are still shameful victims, blaming the victims and women are afraid to tell their truth, we can never go to a court system where justice can be done.

She continued, “I’ve always said that it wouldn’t take long if one of her victims was blonde and blue-eyed. Women of color are the lowest at the totem pole when it comes to domestic violence and sexual abuse.”

Dria added that her marriage to the 54-year-old was “a life of endless fear … walking on an egg shell … scaring, you never know which version of her you’re going to get.”

They had three children together and divorced in 200.
