Cardi B’s famous “Okurar” is the only appropriate response to the news of the rapper’s next hosting gig. Apparently, the ‘Bodak Yellow’ superstar will touch the stage of the 2021 American Music Awards as their host.
Executive producer Jesse Collins said in a statement on Tuesday, “We are thrilled to be bringing its infectious power to host the dynamic Cardi B American Music Awards for the first time.”
The show announced their choices very early in the morning via a short, compilation video of Cardi Moments. The five-time AMAs winner is not just hosting. He has also been nominated for three awards this year. According to Billboard, she has been featured in “Favorite Female Hip-Hop Artist” and “Favorite Music Video” and “Favorite Hip-Hop Song” for her solo ‘Up’.
Cardi’s past with AMA
Thus, Cardi is not unfamiliar with accepting awards or performing at the AMA. She took to the stage in 2018 to perform their hit song ‘I Like It’ with Jay Balvin and Bad Bunny. Last year, she broke another record (for the fifty-eleventh time) by becoming the first female rapper to achieve two “favorite hip-hop songs” twice – a category reportedly added in 2016.
“When I was invited to host AMAs, I was very excited,” Cardi B said in a statement. “I’m ready to bring my personality to the AMAs stage! Thanks to Jesse Collins, ABC and MRC for making this happen. “
Fans welcomed the announcement as it quickly went viral on Twitter. By Tuesday evening, the reposting of the video of Cardi’s announcement had more than two million views.
This year’s AMA will air live on Sunday, November 21 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Fans will be able to catch Cardi Hosting by tuning in to ABC or watching Hulu the next day. The show is the “Biggest Fan-Voted Award Show in the World” per billboard.
