That was fast! Roommates, as we mentioned earlier, were fired indefinitely from their position on CNN on December 1 after Chris Cuomo leaked details about how he helped his brother Andrew Cuomo in his sexual harassment scandal. However, the network was quickly removed and officially terminated.
In a statement, CNN said, “Chris Cuomo was suspended earlier this week for further evaluation of new information that was leaked about his brother’s involvement in the defense. We have retained a reputable law firm to conduct the review and have dismissed him with immediate effect. ” The statement continued, “During that review process, additional information came to light. Despite the termination, we will conduct a proper investigation.”
Chris also broke his silence and issued a statement of his own. Chris tweeted, “I don’t want my time on CNN to end like this, but I’ve already said why and how I helped my brother. So let me tell you now, as frustrating as it is, I’m a team at Kuomo Prime Time and the most competitive time.” I can’t be more proud of what I did as CNN’s # 1 show in the slot.
Although Chris has reduced his involvement with the governor’s office, extensive information was obtained Monday through a huge document dump. Documents released by New York Attorney General Leticia James show that when Chris served as CNN’s top presenter, he worked unpaid to assist the governor. A CNN spokesman declined to comment further on the report. Roommates, we will keep you updated if more details surface!
