TSR UPDATE: Joyda Chaves and her accomplices are expected to return to the United States shortly after Greg Wright is convicted today of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
According to the Jamaica Observer, Joyda and her crew were scheduled to leave Sangstar Airport on a private jet on Monday, when the weapons were found. Joyda and Greg appeared in Western Gun Court on Wednesday morning, where they received a 800,000 fine, the equivalent of ৫ 540,000 in US dollars, for possession of a firearm and illegal ammunition.
Authorities at the airport in Montego Bay warned their Jamaican customs counterparts, who found weapons in Joyda and Gregg’s luggage, the Observer reported.
A search of their luggage turned up two black cases – a black Smith and a Wesson 9mm pistol with eight 9mm cartridges and seven 9mm cartridges with a black, gray and pink SCCY9mm pistol.
Joyda and Greg admitted to owning weapons, but later learned that they had failed to seize firearms and ammunition upon arrival on the island.
This pair avoids any jail time on the island. A representative of Joydar did not immediately return a request for a statement.
Joyda and her friends have been living in Jamaica for the past 24 weeks to celebrate her 24th birthday.
Turnups definitely become real sometimes! At one point, Joyda and her crew overturned their golf cart while they were wandering around the island. No one was seriously injured in the crash, but you can watch the video below, and why Joyda repeats the phrase “do normal”.
