Karen Malina White Steps Into The Shade Room & Talks About ‘The Proud Family’ Revival, Her Legendary Career & More


Actress Karen Malina White has a resume that spans more than 30 years, and there is no doubt in her legendary status when it comes to the number of characters she has played.

Now she has gotten the chance to revive one of her characters for an all-new series on Disney +. Many fans were excited to learn that Disney was bringing back the Proud Family in their new series “The Proud Family: Louder & Prouder,” and fans will get to hear Karen voice the one and only Dijonay Jones once again.

Karen stepped into The Shade Room to speak about the show. She also shared with us which of her other characters she would love to revive, the changes that she has noticed in Hollywood throughout the years, and also some of the other amazing projects she has coming our way.

When asked about her initial thoughts when it was announced that the Proud Family would be making a return, Karen said, “I was just elated. Fans have been asking for us to come back. I mean we only had two seasons when we first premiered 21 years ago. It was just so exciting, I was so thrilled. “

Karen also shared with us which of her other roles she would love to see revived if given the chance. From 1992 to 1993, Karen starred on “A Different World,” and played Charmaine Brown, who was also her character on “The Cosby Show,” as well. Karen shared that she would love to see “A Different World,” make a comeback.

“I’m a Howard [Howard University] girl, we have the vice president, who is also a Bison, ”she said. “There’s just been a really great resurgence in terms of really giving HBCUs their do. I think it would be a perfect time to have ‘A Different World,’ reboot. “
