A Kentucky high school is under investigation by its district

The district said the incident at Hazard, Kentucky’s Hazard High School was part of the school’s repatriation earlier this week, according to CBS News. Pictures of the event were originally posted on the “Hazard High School Athletics” Facebook page, according to Courier Journal, But the post has been removed from the site.

The photos, which have been widely shared on social media, were part of an event called “Man Page” and showed teenage boys in girls’ underwear dancing on the laps of male school staff. In the photo, the adults are clapping and smiling.

Among the staff members taking pictures next to a dance student was school principal Donald “Happy” Mobelini, who is also the mayor of the city. Other photos show female students wearing homemade hooters uniforms and carrying glasses of beer.

In a statement posted on the district website, Superintendent Sondra Combs said the photos show “inappropriate student-led activity” and that the district is responsible for resolving the issue.

“We try to increase creativity in our students, but unfortunately, this time it has been taken too far,” Combs says. “… Homecoming activities were planned as a celebration for students, staff and the school community. It was all intended to be fun and entertaining, but the activities did not go as planned. “

Combs added that the school’s dress code was not followed at the time of the incident and to avoid any problems in the future, the uniforms will be “reviewed for appropriateness.”

The district said it had conducted “appropriate disciplinary action” after the incident and would not disclose what action was taken.

A student activity committee is being set up “to review all student-led activities, which should prevent any such skits in the future,” the district said.

In addition, students and staff are expected to receive training in policies and procedures “to ensure that this does not happen again.”

“Using this as an instructive moment, we will provide social media training for our students and staff,” Combs said. “In today’s society students need to understand that anything posted online is permanent! It is available for public viewing and sharing around the world We would hate to see one of our children chase them for the rest of their lives. “

“We would like to apologize for the activity portrayed in our district media and we are sorry for how it was published,” Combs continued. “This is not something that usually happens here at Hazard High School and we are sincerely sorry for any embarrassment caused by our school community.”
