Maya Chaka became the first black woman to play in an NFL game

According to NPR, Maya recently made history as the first black woman to play an NFL game. That moment during Sunday’s game between the New York Jets and the Carolina Panthers, which he said was one of his pride.

“To me this historic moment is an honor and a special opportunity to be chosen to represent women and women of color in America’s most popular sport, proving that I can overcome adversity and overcome adversity,” published by the NFL.

Chaka is the second woman to become a full-time NFL officer and the first black woman. He said he hopes to inspire and empower others to “keep their feet out of the box and do something else”.

The NFL announced that Maya was being hired in March, where she said she was honored.

“But this moment is bigger than personal achievement,” he said. “It’s an achievement for all women, my community and my culture.”

The NFL’s executive vice president of football operations, Troy Vincent Maya, issued an official statement after the appointment.

“Myer’s years of hard work, dedication and perseverance – including part of the NFL Office Development Program – have earned him a position as an NFL officer,” he said. “As we celebrate Women’s History Month, Maya inspires us to become the first black female officer to be a trailblazer and normalize women on the football field.”
