An unfortunate tragedy today has hit a Tennessee community because of gun violence. Earlier, news broke that a cruiser had been shooting at a grocery store in Collieryville, Tennessee, outside of Memphis. All eyes were on Twitter as Collierville began to trend when reports surfaced that at least one person had been killed and 13 injured in the shootings.
According to ABC News, the gunman opened fire around 1.30 pm. Police said people inside the store began hiding in the freezer and locked themselves inside the office. An employee fled to the roof and was eventually taken to safety by police. A cashier gave details of what happened during the shooting to Memphis ABC-approved WATN. He said he ran into a back room with customers after the gunman arrived at the shooting. The cashier recalled that the gunman hit an employee in the head, a customer in the abdomen and another employee in the cheek. Afterwards, he said the gunman left but continued firing.
Kroger, the seventh-largest American-owned private employer in the United States, released a statement through a spokesman. “The entire Kroger family provides our thoughts, prayers and support to the victims and their families during this difficult time. We are cooperating with local law enforcement, who have secured the shop and parking lot. The statement continues that Has started counseling services for.
Although no update was available on the cause of the shooting, officials suggested that an unidentified gunman had died as a result of a gunshot wound. Currently, there has been an update of at least 14 people visiting local hospitals. The condition of five of them is critical, one has been released, hospital staff confirmed.
