R. Kelly is pleading guilty to his racketeering and is hiring an attorney who helped Bill Cosby get out of jail.

R. Kelly is fighting his federal racketeering conviction and enlisting the help of a high-profile attorney who won an appeal in Bill Cosby’s sexual assault case.

New York based attorney Jennifer Bunjian has filed her appearance in U.S. District Court in Brooklyn and in Kelly’s case, where Kelly was convicted last month of racketeering and sexual assault, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Bonjin told the Tribune that he was no more. Kelly will lead the motion after he is convicted, and if U.S. District Judge Ann Donnelly denies him a new trial, he will pursue an appeal before the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The post-trial motion is scheduled for Monday, but Bonjin has asked the court to extend the two-month term.

So why is there such a big deal for Kelly and Bonjin? The driving force behind Bill Cosby’s appeal to be convicted of his sexual offenses in Pennsylvania was the driving force.

Thanks to his work, Kasby is now a free man.

Bonjin says in Kelly’s case he is “looking forward to getting acquainted with the record.”

“I am becoming increasingly concerned about how the government is abusing the RICO Act to appeal around the Restrictions Act and essentially putting people’s entire lives at stake,” Bonjin said. “It is becoming a formula for the government. You have the right to defend yourself against certain allegations. “

R. Kelly was convicted Sept. 27 of conspiracy to commit racketeering. The jury found him guilty of 12 personal illegal acts, including having sex with multiple underage girls, as well as bribing a 15-year-old Illinois public aid officer in 1994 to obtain a fake ID so that the two could marry. . .

Kelly, who is being held pending a sentence in May, faces up to 10 years in prison.
