The R&B industry has reportedly lost one of its diamonds. Singer and songwriter Andrea Martin is no longer with us after 49 years. The shocking news was first posted on Andrea’s Instagram Story on Monday evening.
“Dear family and friends, it is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the news of the death of our beautiful Andrea Martin, better known as ‘Annie’. “Andrea will always be remembered for her passion and dedication to her family and friends. Its effects can be felt and heard for a lifetime. ”
His passion was undeniable as he wrote in many hit records. He has pushed his pen for artists like Tony Braxton, Monica and SWV. Songs like Ann Vogue’s “Don’t Let Go” and Angie Stone’s “Wish I Don’t Miss You” are bright bullet points in her heavy biography. He worked closely with his longtime writing partner Evan Matthias. Evan confirmed the news of Andrea’s death on Monday.
“Rest in heaven with Andrea Martin,” captioned a photo by Evan Andrea. “My childhood friend and songwriter. He was awesome.”
In a separate post, Evan shared a throwback picture performed with Andrea. He praised Andrea and her talent in the caption.
“His soul was inspired by every song and tune,” Evan writes. “Our connection was a divine reunion. We went to school together and had no idea that soon, we would be reunited as partners, co-authors and friends through youth. He brought out the best in me and the people he worked with. We laughed, cried, fought and loved hard. He was a blessing to all around him that no one would ever know. He taught me about life, love, loyalty and of course music. His musical talent has contributed to the soundtrack songs of all our lives. “
At this point, the cause of death is unclear. Andrea’s family has also requested privacy as appropriate arrangements have been made.
“We thank you in advance for your sympathy, love, compassion and understanding at this time,” the message said. “Please limit calls because we are trying to finalize the arrangements at this time. Once finalized, we will be sure to post the arrangements.”
