Peoria Riverfront – Peoria, IL June 1, 201
After a long twenty years, 105.7X and Incoded Entertainment have brought the incubus to Peoria, Illinois with the original lineup. Closing the 2-day festival with them are Autumn Row, Spirit Animal, The Glorious Sons and Badflower. The weather was perfect but the music took the storm all day and night!
Autumn Rove took the stage to open the final day of Spring Fling. Vocalist / guitarist Bradley Prentice, guitarist Courtney Richmond, bassist Derrick Kaptaina, and drummer Neil Dennis had some amazing power to get things started right. Fans opened with “Huckleberry” and “The Lair” cheering for this quartet, and wrapped with “Race You to the Grave” it’s always refreshing to see local works on stage and this soldier is there because they have experience and the spirit to prove it.
The soul is the beast
The East Coast Rockers Spirit Animal returns to the Midwest with the fun of their funk and psychedelic sound crowds. Steve Coopers vocals, Paul Mitchell on the bus, Cal Stamp lead guitar and Ronen Avron on the drums. Their presence on stage, opened with “The Truth” and “Regular World”, is always worth watching. The sound of grooves and deep songs can be heard in everything they do. The new hit “Yes!”
The Glorious Sons
Joining The Glorious Sons line-up from Great White North. Guitarist Chris Coaster, bassist Chris Hewitt and drummer Adam Packett brought their unique sound to their set, along with Brothers Brett Emmons and Jay Emmons. Fans including the hit “SOS”, and “Mama” sang with the crisp and clear sound of this powerhouse band. Their blue collar roots appear through songs and sometimes in soft tones. You can say for sure that they have fought and struggled to get to where they are now.
Los Angeles is where Badflower calls home. Still their high riding All right, I’m sick The boys who released the album earlier this year brought some blues rock to Riverfront for their waiting fans. Singer / guitarist Josh Katz and guitarist Joey Moro Badflower started shortly after bassist Alex Espiritu and drummer Anthony Sonnetti. Open song and soundtrack with “X ANA X” and “Drop Dead” from the stage. At one point a fan holds a sign to play the guitar for their hit “Animal”. To everyone’s surprise this lucky fan Jack Danny was brought on stage and all I wanted to say was a flawless performance with the boys.
Fans from all over the United States traveled to the city of Peoria to give Incubus a chance to return to the region, 20 years after the Rockers merged with the main cast. Formed from Calabasas, California and formed in 1991, vocalist Brandon Boyd, lead guitarist Mike Einziger, bassist Ben Kenny, Chris Kilmore’s Turntables and Key, and drummer Jose Pasillas II were in top form on the show. Playing a powerful 16-song set, including “Privilege”, “Love Hearts”, “Stellar” and the fans’ favorite “Wish You Wear Here”, the crowd didn’t want Spring Fling to end this year after 2 songs.
