University of Toronto to offer a course on Drake and Weekend in 2022 Celebrity News

School just got a little more fun. When it comes to higher education, there are many things you can take. It means money, politics, health, or music. A University of Toronto is diving deeper into the catalog of their two urban heroes. Ryerson University is officially launching a course that will examine the music of The Weekend and Drake.

In the course “RTA 950: Deconstructing Drake and The Weeknd” students will have the opportunity to study the record-breaking careers of artists. The author, podcaster, and hip hop scholar is directing the #DaltonHiggins class. Last week he made the official announcement via his Instagram account. Dalton, who has a broad background in education, said: “Now is the time to recognize our Canadian rap and R&B icons and canonize them academically or otherwise. And it is critical for scholars, historians to examine the Toronto music scene that gave birth to Drake / Weekend and helped create the conditions for their mega-success.

With the success of Drake’s current album “Certified Lover Boy”, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, it set the record for highest sales in the first week of 2021 and broke Apple Music and Spotify’s record for most notable streaming debuts. Within a day, it was understandable, why the Ryerson course would be held. Not to mention The Weekend has an impressive career. He holds several music chart records and was the first artist to simultaneously hold the top three positions on the Billboard Hot R&B song charts for “Can’t Feel My Face,” “Earn It,” and “The Hills.”

When it comes to artists doing college courses, Drake and The Weekend aren’t the first. Kanye West, Outcast, Kendrick Lamar, Beyonc এবং and others are in great organization as they have classes centered on their musical and cultural influences. Ryerson students don’t have to wait too long to register for the Drake and The Weekend courses. Eligible students can register for this course as it will be offered in early 2022.
